Subpoena process

In the Case Events screen, click the subpoena icon for the event you are working with. If there are already Subpoenas for the event, the icon shows the count of Subpoenas served over the total Subpoena count.

Create a new Subpoena

  1. Click + for the involvement you wish to subpoena.

    You can only subpoena witnesses, victims, and Justice personnel involved with the Case.
  2. In the Service Due Date field, enter the latest Subpoena serving dater.

  3. In the Service Status dropdown, select the current state of the Subpoena process.

  4. In the Service Method dropdown, select the Subpoena serving method. Depending on the option selected, the address, email address, or phone number shows in the Subpoena summary.

  5. In the Address field, enter the address to use when serving subpoena.

  6. In the Email Address dropdown, select the mail address to use when serving the Subpoena.

  7. In the Phone Number dropdown, select the phone number to use when serving the Subpoena.

  8. Click Save.

Adding a Subpoena to an Case Involvement involves that Person on the event, unless they are already involved.

Edit a Subpoena

  1. Expand the Subpoena section under the Case Involvement to show all of their Subpoenas for this event.

  2. Click Edit to open the Edit dialog.

  3. Click Save when finished.

Generate a Subpoena document

In the Create or Edit dialog:

  1. Select the template to use in the Form dropdown.

    Add Subpoena in the Form Groups dropdown for applicable Document Definitions to reduce the template count showing up in the Form dropdown.
  2. Click Save and Generate.

The system adds generated documents to the Case Filing Cabinet.

Delete a Subpoena

Click Trashcan to delete the Subpoena. The system also deletes the associated document (if generated) from the Case Filing Cabinet.
